Teaching/learning activities in Norway

On June 18-22, Gedminai progymnasium team led by the Deputy Director for education Saulius Rudelis participated in the final meeting of Erasmus+ 2nd main action of general education sector interschool strategic partnership project “Active in NATURE, ENJOYING the NATURE!” in Norway – Engerdal barne-og ungdomsskole school. During the training activities, students attended non-traditional educational activities at school, the Blokkodden wildlife museum and the Gutulia National park. There they tested the project’s app for Android smart devices designed to know about each project country partner’s national park.

Teachers were acquainted with the Norwegian educational system, shared their best practices in organizing formal and non-formal education. They discussed teaching methods, forms for conducting the lessons, educational environments, reviewed completed works and presented final products developed for the project to the local community.

During the training in a multicultural environment members of the team consolidated the skills of cooperation, communication in a foreign language and were acquainted with Norwegian nature and culture.

The third mobility with students, regarding to the ERASMUS+ program ANEN (Active in Nature, Enjoying the Nature!),took place in Klaipeda (Lithuania), during the week, from 7th to 13rd of March 2017. Six students of 2nd and 3rd of ESO and two teachers (Marta Armendia and Julia Rodes) of our high school, IES LEONARDO DA VINCI of Alicante, went to this nice country on the seashore of the Baltic Sea to take part in interesting and different activities with other students and teachers from Norway, France and Lithuania.

We arrived in Khaunas airport (Lithuania) one day before the meeting, because we wanted to travel by direct flight from Alicante and so we could have the opportunity to share the “Mum´s day” with our host families. Some of us went to the zoo, others went to the beach or to the countryside.

On the one hand, during the week, we did a lot of things at school; for example, we learned to make a flute with recycled materials in a musical lesson and we engaged in some Lithuanian popular dances and games. We made murals about the Natural Park and ICT pressentions were made by international teams. However, we liked the “Guard Battery, Memel-Nord” trip the most.

It was an amazing experience for us, despite the weather. When we woke up that morning it was snowing!

We left the school and went to this beautiful place near the Baltic Sea and, suddenly, the sun raised. We could pick up stones on the beach and look for amber. In the afternoon, we visited a Second World War bunker and a war veteran explained to us a lot of interesting things about the life during those days.

We enjoyed the Ventè Cape trip too, especially when we went up to the top of the lighthouse and we could admire the landscape of the seashore.

Regarding the school and Lithuanian culture we would like point out they are totally different to ours; Music and traditions are very important for them. Furthermore, the school does not have fence. Their typical dishes are breaded chicken, mashed patatoes and vegetable soup.

Thanks Lithuanian friends for this wonderful week!

The week was an ideal opportunity for doing interesting activities. On the one hand, students and teachers could spend time together sharing English and Geography lessons. For example, we learnt how to explain which were our hobbies and tastes. Moreover, students were able to getting familiar with some sports, such as climbing or badminton. However, the highlight of the meeting was the water activities; specially, the canoeing excursion from Colombières to Tarassac and the camping night in the middle of the forest.

On the other hand, the watersports were outstanding. The whole Spanish team demonstrated how we love the sea, doing windsurfing, catamaran and sailing. It was an spectacular experience!

Finally, we were proud to take part in the inagural event of the new name of the Forest “des Ecrivains Combattants ; the same new name for its school. We had fun in a big party for ending the meeting.

Thank you very much for all the French Team, specially for its students who tought us the meaning of the words: fellowship and friendship!

An olive tree for “ANEN-E+”

by Spain

Last wednesday, 9/3/2016, the students of the PFCB (a basic studies for vocational training qualification) of Wood of our high school, IES Leonardo da Vinci of Alicante, took part in our program ERASMUS+, ANEN: “Active in Nature, Enjoying the Nature”, planting the tree that will symbolise the values of our project: Cooperation, friendship, tolerance and commitment to the environment.

Firstly, we explained them what the European Union and the ERASMUS + programs mean, especially, we showed the objectives and the activities that we are going to do during the Spanish meeting in relation to our project. The students loved the outdoor activities and wanted to participate in everything. Secondly, they made two murals about Tabarca Island and the olive tree.

It was one of the best experiences I have had as a teacher, because this is a group with special needs and they did their best, working hand by hand with other students of our high school. I loved their creativity and their enthusiastic attitude.

Finally, we went out to plant the olive tree with other students of the Project. Thank you very much, guys!
