We had the opportunity to know the culture and Nature heritage of this particularly amazing country. Besides, we did different kind of activities such as attending a music lesson, geography lesson , DYS activities or dance. Moreover, we shared games with our Nowegian , French and Lithuanian mates.

It was absolutely fantastic the visit to the Venté Cape and “Guard Battery, Memel-Nord” Coast.es team in lt 2

Regarding the school and Lithuanian culture we would like point out they are totally different to ours; Music and traditions are very important for them. Furthermore, the school does not have fence. Their typical dishes are breaded chicken, mashed patatoes and vegetable soup.

Thanks Lithuanian friends for this wonderful week!

My Lithuania

by Lithuania
This year, commemorating the 16th of February, progymnasium’s folk dance ensemble “Gedmina” prepared the dance to the song “Tu Lietuva, tu mana”.  We invited school’s community to celebrate the Lithuanian Independence Day quite merrily, so to feel community of all taking part in the flashing mobilization and singing popular Lithuanian songs. Teachers taught lessons dressed in national costumes. A festive atmosphere has been created by inventive class photos and students’ greetings to Lithuania.
We hope that this festival has brought together all students and teachers and encouraged them to love, value and uphold their homeland more and more.

Educational trip

On 3 February, a group of students of Gedminai School studied with a difference – they went to the National Visitor Centre and the Institute of Lithuanian Language. National Visitor Centre is the gateway to the protected areas of Lithuania. During the educational activity here students felt as they were surrounded by nature: grasslands, birds, grasshoppers around them and clouds above their heads. They got to know with the system of protected areas and learned that there are 5 national and 30 regional parks, 3 state natural and 2 cultural reserves, about 300 nature reserves, more than 500 state-protected natural heritage sites in Lithuania. The exhibition helped to understand what and why have to be protected, why ecology is becoming increasingly important to the whole civilized humanity. The exceptional value of national and regional parks and nature reserves has been illustrated with images and specific items. In the Cinema hall students watched a film about the capercailzies and listened to the mysterious sounds of nature in a special chair. Children really liked the laboratory table – question-mark, where various natural riddle are explained with motion pictures; they also played an interactive game about the cormorants. Terminals that provide the information on protected areas helped students to discover special places in Lithuania.

After the natural lessons students had the Lithuanian language lesson in the Institute of Lithuanian language. This is a unique Language Museum which is part of this institute where the latest linguistic information is provided in an attractive and modern form. Students got to know with the archival documents, linguists’ personal belongings and the other authentic material. Students carefully listened how the Lithuanian alphabet was formed; they wrote their own names using special letter stamps. Students were attracted by speech toys – unique exhibits, which allow to touch the language. The language computer games, karaoke of dialects, a special program to learn Lithuanian sign language were very interesting as well.

That day spent without classes and school desks was full of ex new things.

Brain battle

On a homelike evening, 7th December, there was held a community evening “Seven miles of bridges” in our school.  Participants of Erasmus+ Programme’s Strategic  Partnersips Project „ACTIVE in NATURE, ENJOYING the NATURE!“ ,their parents and teachers did a great job answering questions about the culture and customs of partners countries. All the participants of the event checked their knowledge, found out some new things and definitely enjoyed the game. Everybody was awarded with sweet prizes and good mood.

The Spanish team had planned an exciting week with lots of water activities, and the Norwegian team consistet in  seven students and two teachers. They where really eager to participate in all the week program. The trip started with a warm welcome from our Spanish team. It continued with ICT-workshops and English lessons before we went outside and enjoyed both different outdoor activities and the sunny enviroment. The week was an ideal opportunity for doing interesting activities. On the one hand, students and teachers could spend time together sharing English and Geography lessons. For example, we learnt how to explain which were our hobbies and tastes. Moreover, students were able to getting familiar with some sports, such as climbing or badminton. However, the highlight of the meeting was the water activities; specially, the canoeing excursion from Colombières to Tarassac and the camping night in the middle of the forest.

U.K – Nordics eTwinning conference, Hillerød/ Denmark 19-22 of May 2016

U.K – Nordics eTwinning conference, Hillerød/ Denmark 19-22 of May 2016

Our institution was so lucky to be a part of a really meaningful conference last weekend, with focus on how do we adjust ourselves as European institutions in our meeting with migrant and refugee pupils from all over the world. The focus was on exchanging the best experiences in making a difference for a better and safer everyday for this diverse group of pupils. In every project we run, we must not forget to include this group of pupils, regardless of the different obstacles we may meet…instead of seeing the obstacles, we should focus on possibilities of inclusion in our common society! Wonderful experiences which I’ll definitely adapt into our organisation’s working programme with this project, in order to highlight the European and global DIVERSITY!

We are the children

In most countries of the world Flash Mob is an essential part of the youth culture. The aim of the young is to pay attention of hurrying people or peers on the existing problems.

One of such events was organized in Debrecenas square on May 10. Passersby were able to spectate a sudden mobilization of young people, which aim was to draw public attention on today’s most popular issues (violence against children, troubles in the world) and that they care about it. Children from Gedminai progymnasium, Vetrunges progymnasium, Vydunas progymnasium, Children’s entertainment center, PI Edukateka and PI Hatora were involved in this campaign. This Flash Mob was a part of Erasmus+ (KA2) Strategic Partnerships between schools project “We are the world, we are the children” and “ANEN”, so students from Croatia, Greece, Romania and Turkey joined the dance.

Our goals to achieve were: In the first place, that all the students meet each other face to face and begin to interact and develop their communicative skills; as second goal, their participation in several outdoor activities, such as beach volley, kayak and paddle surf, mixed in international teams; and finally, working in the app about Tabarca Island which is the Natural Reserve that the Project is based on, looking for information about its History and taking wáter pictures. The meeting was very successful. We began with the traditional “Welcome day” at the school, IES Leonardo da Vinci in Alicante. We enjoyed seeing the spectacular “batukada”, played by the group: “La ciudad de los colores” and we learnt a lot of things about eTwinning.
