Teaching/learning activities in French nature

On September 26 th – 30 th , the  team of Erasmus+ K2 for the 2 General Education Session  of interschool strategic partnership project “Active in nature, enjoying the nature!” visited the French St. Gervais town’s school – Collåge des Ecrivains Combattants. During the teaching/learning activities, students took part in geography, chemistry, English, PE and nature lessons. Other activities took place in the wild. The participants were climbing „Clocher de Neyran“, biking 14 kilometres into the campsite where they styed over the night. A real test – kayaking in the mountain river was waiting after the campfire. Everyone wearing special suits and helmets was very eager to start kayaking as soon as possible, but it was not as easy as it seemed to be – everybody stuck among the stones at least once. Despite the difficulties, everyone enjoyed this activity very much. The trip to Montpellier also left a great impression. A challenge to try out sailboats, catamaran and windsurfing was waiting in the Lion Bay. On the last day, the pupils played games and then all the project participants and lots of local government and community representatives attended the school ceremony, during which the school was given the name of writer-fighters for freedom. Interesting activities ended with a general party for all the project participants and pupils’ parents.

The teachers were acquainted with the French education system, shared their best experiences in organising formal and non-formal education. They discussed the teaching methods, the forms on conducting the lessons, educational environments, reviewed done tasks, the issues of preparation of the final product and planned further project activities. The team members established collaborative, communication skills in a foreign language, familiarized French nature and culture in a multicultural environment throughout the week.
